Islamic Law and Law of Islamic Countries


ISLAMIC LAW: juridical system that can be defined as “classic”.
Today, Islamic law is applied in a different way compared to the period of the Prophet. Islamic law has changed due to the process of modernization of Islam: it migrated from a “jurist law” into a “statutory law” (codified law).

Islamic law (in the classic sense) was enforced until the fall of the Ottoman Empire. The Islamic Nation (UMMA) was fragmented into several nation states, each of them elaborated its own system.


This is no more in force: in modern countries there is a Constitution and a system based on civil law.
