Working for a small organization, in South Africa, a Country in Sub-Saharan Africa, has given me the opportunity to understand how the organizations can create their own space in the jungle of NGOs. Developing projects with a zero budget, trying to create an appeal about an organization that does not have an important name behind it, trying to create its own brand and raise the public's awareness of its need to have its voice heard is not an easy task in an African country, especially in South Africa, where citizens’ social consciousness about their own country’s issues is very limited.
Working for a small NGO gave me the opportunity to figure out how to create projects that can attract grants from prospective founders, figure out how challenging it is to create a social consciousness, how difficult it is to try and involve civil society and especially the youth and students; but at the same time it made me understand how important is, for change, to start from the citizens to give voice to people who have do not the power or authority to do so.
My experience at Unicef that gave me a marked knowledge and sensibility in the field of the human rights, and an excellent ability in management and realization of project finalized to awareness-raising and fund-raising, and organization of events as the University of Cagliari graduate course in Development Education and “non formal” education workshop. Moreover I learnt the importance of the respect for differences made him more open minded and able to confront a job on the field of the human rights and also helped me to understand how important is the cooperation of volunteers and interns for associations.
My studies at University of Cagliari, where i obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Political Studies, gave me a knowledge characterized by an interdisciplinary education in juridical, economic, political logical, social and historical disciplines, aimed at managing the public and private issues of the modern society, and at planning and implementing complex operative strategies.
I obtained a master's degree (cum laude) in “Governance and the Global System, International Political Studies of Africa and Asia”, aims at mastering knowledge in political, institutional, economic, social and cultural phenomena of Africa and Asia, to form professionals able to operate in a multicultural context, in response to the growing socio-economic and cultural presence of the States and societies of Asia and Africa in the global sphere, attending course works as international law, international economy, sociology of globalization, economy of resource, Analytical History of Heavily Indebted Poor Country, History and institutions of sub-Saharan Africa, Mediterranean Africa, Middle-East and Asia.
During last year, I attended 6 months at the Institute d’Etudes Politique – SciencesPo Bordeaux (France) thanks of an exchange student program scholarship (ERASMUS) and where I wrote my Master’s Degree Thesis published also by Athena Editore (November 2011).
