Marco Scarsi

I briefly introduce myself.
I graduated in Physics at the University of Genoa (full marks) and I obtained a PhD in bioinformatics ("cum laude") from the University of Zurich.

In 1995, after my Physics degree, I worked in a space research institute in Toulouse, France. I carried on simulations and satellite data analysis for gamma-ray astronomy. From 1996 to 1999 I worked as assistant at the Zurich Univeristy, where I was granted the title of PhD in bioinformatics. I performed numerical simulations on biomolecular systems in collaboration with a pharmaceutical company. As a side task I also administrated small clusters of UNIX workstations.

From 10/1999 to 8/2000 I worked as a Software Developer at "MTM Medical Technologies" in Montreux, Switzerland.
I was the responsible for the research and development of IT solutions for image processing. I directly dealt with clients for support, demonstrations, and troubleshooting.

At present I am working at IT Security AG in Zurich as Technical Project Leader/Software Engineer. I deal with software for internet and intranet security.

My informatics knowledge is manifold and it has been applied to a wide range of fields. I have a long experience in programming (C, C++, Delphi, Fortran, OO programming, MFC, UNIX shell-script, UML) and in system and network administration (UNIX, WinNT). I am particularly skilled in the field of IT security, where I have state-of-the-art knowledge and experience.

I speak English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Dutch. Publishing several scientific papers gave me a sound experience in technical english writing.
