The social network: reference to a new form of communication - Los social network: referencia de una nueva forma de comunicaciòn

This thesis is written in english and in spanish.

The main goals that I decided to attain before writing this thesis were, among others, to understand the reasons why the members of this virtual community decide to spend most of their time in front of a computer, and to immerse themselves in a virtual world, isolated from the society and their family; then, I was eager to explore the various proposals among the different search sites, and at the sam time I wanted to keep on investigating the history of these sites.
In the first chapter I wanted to explain the origins and the innovations of the Internet, electronic commerce and the influence of social networks and the Internet on the daily language.
In the second chapter I dealt with the differences between real identity and virtual identity, the digital interaction, the addiction to the Internet and to social networks, especially in young people.
The core of my thesis is developed in the third chapter, where I dealt with some very interesting themes, such as the origin of social networks, the main seach sites, the favourite social networks and eventually social television.

Chapter 1: The blogosphere Blogosphere means a virtual system or a set of connections between blogs, which are deeply interconnected thanks to links, quotes, shares and comments. All of this creates a real social network with its own culture which is called blogosphere. While blogs themselves are only a format on the web, the interconnection of these is a social phenomenon: when we look at them as a whole, we can clearly identify trends, tastes, popularity of sites, objects, products, music, movies, books, as if they were collective actors. On 10 th September 1999 Brad L. Graham came up with the original term in English, which was a sort of joke at first. In 2001 William Quick started using the term blogosphere and since then it has become popular. The word recalls the logosphere (from the Greek "logos" which means word and "atmosphere" translated as world), the world of words and the universe of discourse. Over the last ten years, the blogosphere has experienced exceptional growth and has developed its own network of interconnections. In the blogosphere there are people called bloggers, who publish their considerations, news, opinions, actual thoughts, reflections in the network more or less every day, along with other types of electronic materials such as images or videos. 1.1 A historical outline of the Internet The term “Internet” was first used in 1969, when the Department of the American Defense set up a large system to ensure the communications between the various military bases on its national territory. The purpose of this system was that not to suffer any partial or total damage from a military attack. The standard of communication in use proved efficient and was also adopted for non-military uses, thus gradually spreading all over the world. In 1989 at the CERN (Center of Nuclear Physics Search) in Geneva, a project was devised to enable users to divide textual and non-textual data. The World Wide Web (WWW) was developed in 1990. Its creators were Sir Timothy John Berners-Lee and Robert Cailliau who thought that the exchange of information should be simple, intuitive and quick to allow investigators all over the world to 2
